Hello. Welcome to this tutorial series on learning Adobe Fireworks CS3. My name is James Gonzalez. I'll be your guide to this comprehensive look at the world's leading software tool for creating, editing, and optimizing Web graphics. This course is composed of movies between three and seven minutes long. Each movie is organized into sections containing other movies covering similar techniques or topics. I start with this section providing an overview of the Fireworks application and introducing new features in the CS3 version of Fireworks. The application works base is covered next, including a review of all the Fireworks important Windows panels and interface components. Next, I cover how to create and modify content in Fireworks using the drawing and selection tools in the vector and bit-map sections of the tools panel. After learning how to create graphics, you then learn how to select, modify and organize objects. Next I demonstrate how to format and work with text, and then how to apply live filters such as bevels, drop shadows, and blurs to your Fireworks graphics. You'll then learn how to work with pages, layers, and image masks. The entire middle section of the tutorial is devoted to techniques for adding interactivity to your Fireworks projects through the use of hotspots, slices, behaviors, button symbols, pop-up menus, and much, much more. This part of the tutorial concludes with demonstrations on how to create slide shows and animations, and the final section of the tutorial covers how to optimize images using the Export Wizard and how to quickly and efficiently optimize from within the Fireworks workspace itself. I conclude the tutorial with demonstrations on the various publishing and export options, including how to best use Fireworks and Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Before we begin I need to orientate you on how these videos work. I'm currently using screen capturing software to record my voice and computer screen. The video images you'll see running on my screen are being captured by this screen recording program. I'll be recording my screen while demonstrating all the important features of Fireworks CS3, giving you a very visual, detailed look at the application. Now, I have provided many of the graphics files that were used to demonstrate the various Fireworks techniques covered in the tutorial. You have permission to use these working files to practice the various techniques covered in each of the movies. You can access these files in the Working Files folder, notice right here it says Working Files, that's the folder where I stored all of these files. Most are named after the particular technique covered in the movie they were used for. For example, these animation files were used in the movie entitled "Working with Animation Symbols." This Photoshop sample file was used in the movie entitled, "Working with Photoshop Files." I think you'll find these working files very helpful in your efforts to learn Fireworks CS3 in the most efficient and effective manner. Let me now move on to the next movie and answer the question: what is Fireworks? by giving you a quick overview of the most important features of this application.
