Another interesting type of tool you can use instead of the clone brush is the pattern stamp tool. Press and hold on the clone brush and you can see one of the hidden tools. In fact the only other tool associated with it is the pattern stamp tool. Works very much like a brush, except instead of painting with your selected color it paints with whatever is your current pattern as found in this popup palette. Press and hold on this pattern swatch, and it will bring up the popup palette showing you the various types of patterns you can choose from. All you need to do is click on any one of these patterns to select that particular pattern. I'm going to go back to the bubbles pattern, that's the first one here, and just click again on the options tab at the top. And make sure my opacity is set to a 100 and mode to normal, and just begin painting in the sky. And, you can see what it does is it paints with a pattern. I'll go ahead and undo that, try something a bit more interesting. I've actually saved a mask here of my cow. I'm going to load that as a selection. So now my action, in this case painting with the pattern, will be constrained to wherever my selection is active in this case the cow. Well that's ok, I'm going to undo that and I'm going to try a different mode. Instead of normal, I'll try overlay mode. And this will mix the original cow image with my pattern a bit. And there's my cow with the pattern.
