Hello and welcome to my VTC Photoshop for photographers learning CD. My name is Gavin Philips. I am a Photoshop trainer, retoucher and web designer located close to Chicago. When I was planning this training CD, I spoke to dozens of professional photographers and asked them what their needs were regarding Photoshop training. I then added some of my own creative techniques and hopefully you can use these to give you some new ideas about how to use Photoshop in your photography. My CD can be divided into three main areas. Professional photography techniques, super charging the workflow and releasing your creativity. Under professional photography techniques, I would include the tutorials on masking, removing people from their backgrounds or changing backgrounds, retouching, several black and white conversion methods and many more. Super charging your workflow, I will show you how to batch process your images using actions. I also include over twenty custom actions on the CD. And I also cover many tips, tricks and little known shortcuts that greatly improve your workflow. Actions are greatly under utilized source in Photoshop in my opinion. Let me give you an example of one of these actions, black and white multi-tone. Run the action and in a few seconds, you will get not just a very nice black and white conversion but you can further adjust in the black and white settings here. But also several tint and tone options by clicking on and off of the eye, you can see how they look on your particular photograph. I assign a type here. Two of my other favorites are the champagne and rust. Here you can also combine two of the effects to get something totally different. So let me close this down for a second. Moving on to releasing your creativity, I will show you how to create over a dozen photographic looks as I call them for the most part using my custom actions but in this particular case, this one is called hand coloring and let me maximize these so we can take a look at some of these photographic looks. This one is called painted white, aged 1950s on one of my painted looks. Now I will be releasing my free Digital Edge Photoshop Tutorials and Interesting Web Links newsletter so if you are interested in that please drop me an email at gavin@photoeffects.biz or visit my website. Now if you are using Photoshop 7, most of these techniques can be applied in Photoshop 7 and all of my actions work in Photoshop 7 but I think it is well worth the upgrade to Photoshop CS for the file browser changes. There has been great change to the file browser and it’s much more useful now. The ability to customize your shortcuts and the new camera role plug-in that was released late last year. So that’s it. I look forward to receiving your feedback and once again thank you for viewing my VTC Photoshop for photographers learning CD.
