Google Apps for Business Course

(SFX) Hi and welcome to VTC's Google Apps for Business course. My name is Andrew and I'll be your trainer or tour guide to the world of cloud computing and Google apps. The course has been designed to take you from beginner to using all the advance features and functionality on offer. The course has been designed to cover Google Apps in detail and this includes gmail, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, Google Drive including documents, spreadsheets presentation and forms, Google Groups and Google Apps Admin Console. There are lots of great organizations that have gone Google due to the benefits it brings in cost efficiency, collaboration and mobile remote working. As you go through the course you'll notice how intuitive Google Apps is and how easy it is to get set up and running. To set yourself up with Google Apps it's really easy and can be done very quickly. And the great thing here is that you have now servers to manage. Google handles all of that for you. The course will appeal to many different types of people. Perhaps you've come here because you're in the IT department and your company's thinking of going Google. Or maybe your company's already made that decision and Google Apps is live now. If you are one of those people who have chosen to go this route you will notice that I've included a lesson on how to actually control and manage the management console just to help you. If you're an employee, business owner or you're just a personal gmail user you'll find lots of value in the course too because we have left no stone unturned. I'll always explain new terms and what they mean or sometimes I'll relate back to something that you're used to seeing and doing and I'll give you a bit of explanation and context to help all those new understanding stuff. I'll use this icon whenever I feel that you should be careful and I'll explain more when we come to this. Let's have a look at more detail at what we have covered in this course. Google Apps setup. If you're a business owner work in IT or perhaps you just want to know how easy it is to switch to Google Apps you'll find this lesson really useful. I'll show you how to take your domain, edit the settings and get all signed up using the Google Apps for business websites. I'll even show you exactly how to avoid those delays due to domain and setup not being done correctly. Gmail, it is the app of all apps within the Google App suite, it's the email app and of course we'll be looking at this app in great detail. By the end of this lesson you'll understand the interface, the look and feel of Gmail. Understand how to send mail, work with different types of attachments including those in Google Drive. Know what a conversation view is and how to best manage your inbox using starts, labels filters and of course search. We'll even touch on how to customize your inbox to make it work best for you and if you are a PA or perhaps you want to give delegate access to your mailbox, we'll show you exactly how to set up this feature and how to use it. You've also got Google Contacts, this is your personal contact manager and we'll be exploring how to set up and use personal contact groups for faster emailing, sending out calendar invites and of course how to delegate access and even how to manage duplicate contacts. If you're a meticulous person or perhaps you're trying to get more organized gmail's Task can certainly help you and I'll be showing you how to best use this feature and make it work with multiple lists. Google Calendar. This is the nerve center to organizing your business and personal life. Never before has it been so easy to book resources like meeting rooms, projectors and much more. I'll be guiding you through the various ways of creating events, checking all the Google Calendars and availability, sharing and permissions. And even how to manage the notifications and settings. Google Drive bringing cloud computing to life by giving you the ability to work from anywhere using practically any device with an Internet connection. Together we'll be exploring documents, spreadsheets presentation also know slides and forms. We have broken this down into separate lessons because for each they have so much rich functionality available and you'll want to know everything from creating files to working with templates right the way through to security and sharing permissions. And let's not forget formatting too. Google Drive as an app will allow you to install on your Mac or on your PC and I'll be showing you both. Google Groups the perfect solution for distribution lists, team collaboration and communication, internal newsletter broadcast and much more. We'll take you through what a group is, how to set one up, get it all customized with the vast array of settings and options that are available to you. Make no mistake this will be a very powerful lesson within this course. And it will completely change your way of working. As you can see I've created a phenomenal course and to be honest there's a lot more I haven't mentioned that you'll be learning.
