Hello, and welcome to an instructional series on a very, very cool piece of 3D software called Carrara 7 Pro. I'm Mark Bremmer and will be working with you through this series. If you'd like to see some of my work you can visit markbremmer.com, but if you have any questions about the Tutorial as you go through the series, feel free to shoot me over an e-mail at tutorials at markbremmer.com. I do fully support this series and do my best to answer any and all questions that come in, so if you'd like further explanation of something, or additional explanation, please drop me a line and we'll see what we can do. Now you may come into this saying, well, I own Carrara 7 but I don't have Carrara 7 Pro. Is this still going to be worth my time? And the answer's most definitely yes. All the features in Carrara 7 are present in the Pro edition. The Pro edition happens to include some extra little neat features that are more often than not used by professional users as well as some advanced hobbyists. So, with that, what exactly are we going to cover in this? Well, let's go ahead and cover the scope so you know what you're getting into as well as the terminology we'll be using as we go through this series. We're covering everything for the new user, and when I say new user you can be a beginner to 3D, but you may also be simply new to Carrara, so we cover some of the basics of where you simply find things and look for things inside this program. Additionally, if you happen to have experience in other 3D packages and are coming to this, this will be a great way to really get up to speed quickly so you can start using all the great features of Carrara 7 Pro. We do cover the full range of the software. It's a very rich and deep software that has many advanced features. We do cover how and why you would start looking at some of these, but we don't spend a whole lot of time in super advanced levels of Carrara as you would use in, say, a television environment or something like that. We do cover middle-of-the-range type things where you start taking the basic tool sets and start applying them in more advanced fashion, so we do cover some advanced things, or middle-of-the-road experience things for our more experienced users. Additionally, if you have spent any time on some of the other series that I've put together for Carrara 5 and Carrara 6, this Carrara 7 series will have some new things in it. You know Carrara's rich Ð we'll be exploring some of the features and capabilities it has in a whole new way as we go through this. Part of that is we'll be building scenes and we'll be actually working on real-world type of projects as we learn and explore the tools so you can see not only where they are by why you would want to use them in the first place. I happen to author and work on a Macintosh computer system, however, Carrara works equally well on both the PC and Mac platforms. There are some differences in keyboard modifiers that we use when we click through things, and I try to bring that up, so when I'm working with Right-click, that's a Control-click on a Mac unless you happen to be working with the Mighty Mouse in which a Right-click is a Right-click. Likewise, for some of the other keyboard shortcuts, I'm sure you recognize them for your system, I try to bring them both up, especially in the beginning as we go through these so that as I start using keyboard shortcuts you'll know exactly where I'm going with them and where I found them. With that, let's go ahead and stop here and then take a look at some of the new shiny features of Carrara 7 Pro.
