In the past 5 releases, Revit MEP has really matured and found critical mass within the engineering and building design field. This VTC course will give you a foundation for every feature you will need to successfully model the systems of a building and release a set of construction documents. Author Damon Ranieri will first focus on the picks, clicks, and tools most often sought after as a user begins to settle into a Revit workflow. From there, he will explore some of the "back of house" tasks like creating templates, choosing appropriate settings, and dealing with a content library. He will show you how to set up the job before moving on to modeling the building systems. You will explore all the features and techniques needed to produce readable drawings efficiently and profitably. In short, this course will take you through the entire life of a project, allowing you to envision how you'll realistically apply Revit to your work. (SFX) Welcome to Autodesk Revit MEP 2013 from the Virtual Training Company. I'm Damon Ranieri. Autodesk's Revit MEP is the tool that allows engineers and building systems designers to participate on BIM projects. BIM or Building Information Modeling as defined by the whole building design guide is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. It serves as a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life cycle from inception onward. In simpler terms it allows team members to communicate, a building's design or construction in a format that is easier to understand and share than the traditional method of issuing drawings and specifications. This course will give you the foundation you will need to successfully model your work and release a set of construction documents. I will be covering many features features that not only will allow you to successfully issue drawings. But also effectively participate on a building information modeling project. We'll start by finding our way around the program. I will focus on the picks, clicks and buttons most often sort by users beginning to settle into Revit workflow. From there we will explore some of the back of house tasks necessary to implement Revit for real project work. Things such as creating templates, choosing appropriate settings and managing your content library. Next with you in the role of BIM manager you'll have to set up the job and I will get into exactly what features are needed. And in the order most logical for typical projects. With a project file in place you as a designer can step in and begin the task of modeling the building. As a new Revit user your focus will be to get ideas into a model that produces readable drawings, efficiently and profitably. And produces a BIM that provides your building owner with a superior level of design and service. We'll end with techniques for delivering projects. Logistics such as recovering a corrupt file, copying and pasting items and printing. The course will take you through the life of a project allowing you to envision how you'll realistically be able to apply Revit MEP to your BIM work. To get the most of this courseware you should already have some level of experience with building systems. The building design project process for construction planning. Terms such as air terminal, distribution panel and hydrogenic piping will pop up occasionally as well typical construction industry concepts related to deliverables such as detail drawings, title blocks and match lines. We will be using Revit Building Design Suite 2013 which includes all of the tools from Revit MEP. For a data set the course we'll be using the sample files that install with Revit.
