Linux is the most important operating system on the Internet. It's recognized everywhere as the cost-effective way to operate all kinds of servers. With the support of powerhouses like IBM, Dell, HP, and Sun, demand for Linux servers is growing. Passing the CompTIA Linux+ exam is one step towards joining this army of Linux professionals. This course can help you pass the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam. To begin learning today, simply click on the movie links.
I'm Mike Jang and I'll be your guide through the VTC tutorials for the latest version of the CompTIA Linux+ Exam revised in the year 2009. As suggested by the name it's an exam developed by the Computing Technology Industry Association, CompTIA for short. The exam tests relatively elementary Linux skills however CompTIA suggests that you need 6 to 12 months of Linux experience to pass this exam and I find that pretty accurate so if you're new to Linux this course will not be enough for you. While this course cannot substitute for real hands-on experience it can and does focus on those skills needed to pass the exam based on the requirements listed at www.comptia.org. While CompTIA suggests that you need to pass their A+ and Network+ exams first it's not a prerequisite and it's not necessary in my opinion for two reasons. First, the 2009 revision just about eliminates those A Plus hardware questions that were there on previous versions of the Linux+ exam which also annoyed so many with CompTIA. Second if you know the basic commands in Linux associated with network configuration and routing and if you have 6 to 12 months of genuine Linux experience at the Command Line you should know these commands pretty well already. If you're willing to memorize a few things you'll then have network configuration covered as well. This course is based on the publicly available CompTIA curriculum for the Linux+ exam. What we use is based on the CompTIA Linux+ Objectives available from the URL shown here. We do not use braindumps in this course. Even if we did, CompTIA updates their lists of questions periodically based on the current Linux+ Objectives, so if I were to give you a braindump it would already be out of date. So if you haven't already done so navigate to the list of Linux+ Objectives. Just remember, URLs are subject to change all the time so you may have to use your search skills to find these objectives. Thank you and in the next video will serve as an overview of the CompTIA Linux+ Objectives.
