The Cisco 640-822 exam is Cisco's entry-level exam for networking professionals. Passing this exam will earn you the CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) certification and is the first step towards acquiring the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification. This course covers the requirements for the ICND1 exam, and should prepare you to pass the exam. To begin learning today, simply click on the movie links.
Hello. This is the Cisco CCENT Exam Prep, and this is the course overview for the course we're about to embark on. In this video I'm just going to talk a little bit about what this course will prepare you to do and some of the prerequisites required to get the most out of this course. This exam is for the Cisco CCENT, which stands for the Cisco Certified Entry Level Technician. More specifically, this course will prepare you to take the ICND1 Exam, which is Exam 640-822. This particular exam is half of the CCNA requirements. The other half being the ICND2 Exam, which is Exam number 640-816. There is also an option to take the single CCNA Exam. You don't really get off any easier by taking the single exam. It just covers both of the ICND1 and the ICND2 coursework on the single exam. The single exam costs as much as taking both of the half exams individually, it's just less of a hassle. You only have to sit through one exam, et cetera, et cetera. Now when Cisco teaches this course, Cisco teaches it as a five-day, eight-hour a day, 40-hour course, and I'm going to attempt to compress all of that knowledge down into an eight-hour course here through VTC, so as a result of that I strongly suggest that you get a Study Guide, an Exam Prep, hit up the Cisco Certification community, et cetera. While I will cover everything that is on the exam in this course, to get the true in depth knowledge you'll need to truly put it to use and not just have the vast power of certification once you get done, you will need to study this a lot more in depth. Think of this as kind of a crash course you're studying for your chemistry final two days before the exam. Now since this is an entry level exam, I really don't have that many prerequisites for the course. I'd be nice if you know what a computer is, although if you're watching this I'm pretty sure you know what a computer is. It'd also be nice if you know what a network is, but again, if you're taking this course one would hope that you know what you're getting into and you know what a network is. Most of all you have to have a desire to learn. It's been my experience that there are two types of people that get involved with Cisco Certifications: people that do it because they love computers, because they love networking, and people that do it for the money and because it's a job, and generally that second class of people don't do as well, in my opinion, as people who do this because it's fun and because it interests them. The computer technology field is constantly changing and the Cisco Networking field, especially, is constantly changing what with integrated voice and data networks, with security appliances, new versions of the IOS coming out that support different feature sets, different network conversions models - so you've got to have a pretty strong desire to learn to get the most out of this course, out of any course, and the most of your certification. And that's it. That concludes my discussion of the Course Overview.
