AutoCAD® is the most popular software for Architectural drawing and design visualization. This practical "how to" course by Ivanhoe Tejeda builds on the skills of beginning AutoCAD® users who want to learn advanced 2D commands, 3D modeling commands, and rendering techniques. The tutorial begins with examples of construction drawings and continues with the modeling and rendering of a residential project. The title also introduces the use of Adobe software to create an architectural portfolio. AutoCAD® drawing files and Adobe files are provided at every step to assist the user in the learning process. To begin learning AutoCAD® 2007 today, simply click on the movie links.

Hello and welcome to VTC's AutoCAD 2007 for architects training tutorial. My name is Ivanhoe Tejada and I'll be showing you how to use AutoCAD 2007 as it relates to advanced 2 dimensional architectural drawing and 3 dimensional architectural modeling. This tutorial is intended for intermediate to advanced users. I will focus on explaining and demonstrating 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional drawing skills that I believe to be the most efficient methods of drawing and modeling. This tutorial is a continuation of my previous title, VTC's AutoCAD 2006 for architects. As I have been saying for many years now AutoCAD is the software of choice for the majority of architectural firms. It has a very straight forward to 2 dimensional drafting and now with this release AutoCAD has taken a huge step forward in making 3 dimensional modeling equally straight forward and user friendly. In architecture it goes without saying that it is very important to put together a good set of construction drawings. The purpose of this tutorial is to demonstrate how you can begin to use AutoCAD beyond 2D drawing to meet your office needs. The advanced features of AutoCAD which I'll be demonstrating in this tutorial are important because they keep the team of architects and drafters working together to meet all deadlines through out the many phases of a construction project. It is not my intention to discuss each command separately and how it can apply to one drawing. Rather I will be using a set of drawings as an example of how commands are used to complete a project. It has been my experience that you can not explain AutoCAD commands unless you have a project with direct application to the commands. I will be incorporating the new features of AutoCAD 2007 through out the tutorial making references to improvements of existing commands. This tutorial is for users that have experience using any previous version of AutoCAD. I will also be demonstrating how you can integrate AutoCAD base drawings with raster and vector editing software which has now become common in the majority of architectural firms. The other software I am referring to is of course Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I am not an expert user of either software but I have learned to use them fully in order to complete architectural presentations that communicate ideas with potential clients. I recommend the VTC titles related to the Adobe Family of software if you want to learn more. Using AutoCAD is like driving a car, if you want to learn how to drive you can read about the function of the accelerator and brake pedal along with the other key driving concepts. But to get the full driving experience you need to get behind the wheel, pick a destination and go at your own pace. It is my goal to put you behind the wheel of AutoCAD 2007, introducing you to a colorful and scenic route to enhance the learning experience and then allow you to take control and go as fast and as far you'd like to your destination of choice. I'm excited to share the new features of AutoCAD 2007 with you, now let's get the keys and get started.
