Welcome to VTC's course on the subject of Project Scheduling. My name is Vanina Mangano and I will be your instructor. This course is Part 2 in a series of three courses titled: PMI Scheduling Professional. It's meant to give you a thorough review and level of understanding on the topic of Project Scheduling, as well as a guide to preparing for the PMI Scheduling Professional Certification Exam. We have quick a pathogen of items to cover within this course, but before we go through a course introduction, I'd like to take a brief moment to introduce myself. I'm certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional, Risk Management Professional, and Scheduling Professional. I specialize in project management training and the course development and have several years of industry experience prior to moving into the world of training, much of which comes from the service industry. I've also authored a book on preparing for the Project Management Professional Certification Exam, written coursework and participated as an SME for other project management related books and projects. Introduction aside, let's go through the contents of the course. I mentioned that this is Part 2 of a series. This course is truly the center of our scheduling efforts since we'll be developing the actual schedule here. That means that we'll be covering some critical pieces of scheduling and exam content. By the way, this course references material from the PMBOK Guide, 4th edition and the Practice Standard for Scheduling. To be more specific, let's look at a snapshot of what we'll be covering. We'll start off with a brief review of the material that we covered in Part 1 as a refresher. We'll cover in great detail the Estimate Activity Resources process. This is where we'll determine the type and qualities of resources needed for our activities. We'll next move on to cover the Estimate Activity Durations process, where you'll learn all about estimating techniques. You'll learn about acquiring the project team members, and then we'll move on to perhaps the most complex area of scheduling from a learning standpoint, although that depends on who you talk to. That would be the Develop Schedule process. Our result here will be the Schedule and Schedule Baseline. And toward the end of the course we'll wrap up with Exam Practice Questions. Along the way you'll be going through some hands-on exercises that provide you with content review and Exam Practice questions that will serve as Quizzes. As I mentioned, we'll be going through quite a bit of content within this course and I hope you find it insightful and easy to learn. That wraps up this introductory movie on the PMI Scheduling Professional Part 2 course contents. I hope you enjoy the course and that after going through it you'll be able to use this information and knowledge that you get toward achieving your PMI SP credential, or in simply applying the concepts and information toward improving your project management and project scheduling skills.
