Carrara Studio 2 is an exciting 3D graphics application that features tools for modeling, animation, rendering, and special effects, allowing you to create projects for the web, video, or for print. In this Virtual Training Company tutorial, Doug Sahlin will guide you through learning the tools of Carrara to create 3D scenes and objects, using the Spline, Vertex, and Metaball modelers, creating texture, rendering finished scenes, and creating and rendering animations. He begins with an introduction to the interface and the rooms of Carrara and with advice on how to plan your project. Once you are able to navigate the workspace and create objects, you will learn how to use the cameras and lighting. Some of the more advanced techniques you will learn about include creating intricate shapes, texturing your models, shading, animation techniques, animation with bones, rendering and exporting animations, and more. You will even learn to use Carrara with other software and learn where to find more resources to help optimize your use of this application. Hello my name is Doug Sahlin. I'm author of Carrara 1 bible, Carrara 1 for dummies and several other books on web design and graphic design. I'll be hosting the Virtual Training Company Carrara 2 Studio tutorials. In up coming lessons you'll learn how to use the various tools that Carrara has to offer, create 3D scenes such as the one you see before you. I'll show you how to create 3D objects such as this wine bottle in one of Carrara's modelers, and Carrara has 3 modelers - I'll use them all. And I'll also show you how to create a texture for your 3D models. As you could see here, I've created a green glass texture with a level. And you'll also learn how to render your finished 3D scenes as a still scene such as the one you see here. And when you view these various videos, you may see some banding like you see in the right hand corner here, that is because I am capturing the videos with 16 bit color. And you'll of course be rendering the scenes with 32-bit color. And when you render your scenes you'll have no banding and they will look just like finished photographs. I'll also show you how to create and render animations. Animations with Carrara can be lot of fun. You can animate characters, animate lights, and so on. If your computer is powerful enough you may find it helpful to run Carrara at the same time you're viewing the videos. That way you can follow along with some of the techniques I'll be presenting. Above all take the lessons and play them as often as you need them, and make the techniques your own. Experiment, practice, and the key to mastery with any 3D software is experimentation and practice. Above all enjoy, have fun and have a great time learning how to create scenes and animations with Carrara.
