Web Concepts and Technologies / Language Summary
Subtitles of the Movie
We’ve seen CGI bin programming, we’ve seen Java programming and we've seen JavaScript, VBScript programming. I’ve created this little table to help clarify in your minds the differences between the various different programming types. CGI bin is a server side programming while Java, JavaScript and VBScript all run on the client. Java is a real programming language where as JavaScript and VBScript are scripts, as the names would obviously suggest When it comes to CGI bin however, you can use either real programs, in other words programs written in say C or C++ or even Java and you can also use a scripting languages like Perl, so its both if you like. Take a moment to make sure you’re completely comfortable with what's on the screen before you move on to the next module.
