Now since we're going to concentrate on VMware's Virtualization Product, VMware Workstation and we'll also talk about VMware Player in this video, in this course. I want to kind of go over just a little bit with you about where virtualization has gone and there's no better way to look than VMware's home page. And so notice, I've opened Firefox and I've just navigated to VMware.com and this brings me to their home page. Now if you'll notice right here, Products, if I just mouse over Products, the JavaScript functionality brings the menu up and you can see what all's going on here. But if I click on Products it will bring me to a page where I can scroll down and see these things a little easier. Now notice this is their Product Index and you can get an idea here about what's happened to the virtual world out there and the products that are offered. Notice that VMware breaks their product offerings up into sections and if you mouse over these, especially these little green things here, you'll notice that the green things means that there is a free trial available for that particular product. But notice they've broken their products family up into things like Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure, SMB meaning Small to Medium size Business Products, Mac Products, notice there's your classic VMware Fusion, Desktop and End User Computing. Now notice this is where VMware Workstation comes into play and this is notice, a secure way to run multiple operating systems at the same time. Then you'll notice that I can download a free trial. Okay. And then you'll notice that VMware Player which is the free version if you will of Workstation is down here under Free Products and notice it's the easiest way to run operating systems, multiple operating systems at the same time. Doesn't quite have as many features as Workstation but it's obviously a idea of getting you hooked on this, so you'll do more later. So anyway for Desktop and End User Computing, keep in mind things like VMware View here and notice it delivers a rich personalized virtual desktop but this is really a managed service. It's basically you're serving out multiple virtual machines from a server environment so there's really neat functionality there. And then they offer Infrastructure and Operations Management Virtualized Products and you can see here, I won't go through all these, IT Business Management, you see down here at the bottom, it's jumping around, I'm sorry. Security Products, Application Management, then if I scroll back up here, you can see the Application Platforms and this is their vFabric offerings and then down here are Others and you see your Volume Purchasing Program, Data Recovery, VMmark Capacity Planner and so forth. So there's a lot of stuff out there so you can see what's happened to virtualization, especially in the VMware world. Now it's the same way in the Citrix world and some other products out there but I just wanted you to be aware of your options and if you like VMware Workstation then you probably want to go out here and start to dig around some of these. For example, VMware Sphere, if I click on that and start to go out and read about it, notice you can build a flexible efficient data center with VMware vSphere. And then there's videos here that you can see, demonstrations, here's a 4 minute 15 second video. So anyway what I'm trying to do here is not sell you a bunch of VMware products, I just want you to know they're out there, if you like what you're getting with Workstation, you need to go investigate the rest of the universe that makes up VMware and even just virtualization in general. There's a lot going on out there and this is great stuff to know, by the way, I haven't mentioned anywhere, but you can also get certifications on VMware and those are great out there in the real world. They're a high demand, great paying jobs out there as a VMware certified person and look for some certification stuff to come from VTC on VMware in the near future, as much as it is possible based on the way VMware does their certification prep. So anyway that's just a quick overall kind of an overview of the VMware product family and kind of where Workstation and Player fits into that family.
