More on the Tracker. In another video I discussed the configuration of the Tracker Database with the help of the Tracker Preferences Tool, of course there's more. In this video I discuss some of the commands associated with the Tracker as it isn't installed by default you may need to do so with a command such as Pseudo, Apt, Get, Install, Tracker, Utils. What's installed? It includes a number of commands which can help you manage and search the Tracker Database. Note the command shown here, first the tracker-status command, it provides more information about the current status of the Tracker Service. It may be initializing, meaning you probably just logged in or just started the service. Indexing, meaning its collecting data or Idle meaning it's done. If there's an error message the Tracker Database or the Tracker Service hasn't even started. The Tracker Stats Command provides detailed information about the database. Note the variety of stuff in the index, the number of files, folders, documents. Note how its even indexed images, videos and more. More information about a specific category is available with the tracker-files command. As shown here you have to specify a specific service type, let me specify Videos and it shows some of the videos that I created for this course. Now for some Search Commands. The Tracker-Search UCP Command searches for instances of the term UCP in file names and possibly within the files. Yes, there's also a Graphical Search Tool available which can be started with the tracker-search-tool command, and Trackers also into greater with not list so you can search through that file browser as well. There's' the tracker-meta-folder command which can tell you the names of files and directories indexed in the directory of your choice. Since the Tracker Database starts my Home Directory I start there and let's look at a couple of subdirectories. Look at that, a lot of good information from the Tracker Database.
