Installing Linux / Network Configuration

Subtitles of the Movie

In this video we examine the ways you can configure network connections during the boot process. At this step of the installation process, assuming you're installing over a network, this window should already include some of the settings you configured earlier. You can change it back to DHCP if so told during your exam. You can configure IP Version six support and it's normally best if you make sure that any network devices you do configure are activated when you boot Linux. Make any desired changes and click OK. If you've disabled DHCP you'll be able to configure the Gateway and the NS addresses under the miscellaneous network settings options. I enter options appropriate to my own personal network. What you enter should be driven by your exam. Enter your desired configuration and click OK. If you've set up your network to be configured using a DHCP server you can set it up to assign a host name for you, but in most cases you'll want to configure a host name manually. You may be told to configure a certain host name for your station so the person grading your exam knows which station he's looking at. Enter any desired configuration and click OK. Before you continue we'll select a time zone, select a time zone appropriate for your location, normally you'll be told to accept the system clock uses UTC option. UTC is a French term which is the atomic realization of Greenwich Mean Time. Make your choice then click OK and finally in this video you get to enter a root password, make sure to use the root password as assigned during your exam. You don't want to make it hard for the person grading your exam to get into your root account. If you don't enter the same password twice you get to try again. Thank you and on to the next video.
