I cannot stress enough how important back ups are. Not only should you back up your Bento data but if you're not doing so already you need to back up all of the data on your computer. To back up hard drives to DVDs, whatever it is you need to do to get that job done, I can't stress enough how important that is. Because when disaster strikes and it does when you least expect it can be catastrophic. So the first step is backing up your Bento data and it's very easy, its one of the simplest things you can do and as I mentioned when we were first starting to use Bento in the preferences when Bento starts up you can have it remind you to back up your data every week or every month. I would suggest every week and when it does suggest it to you to back up or it has reminder go ahead and do it. But just at any time you want you can always back up your data by choosing File, Back up Bento Data. And Bento warns you that it only back up the libraries that are within Bento itself. It does not back up iCal information or your address book information and you need to use those two programs to back up that related information. You can always check this checkbox to not show this message again if you so choose. Once you complete that dialog the next dialog is to tell Bento the back up name for your file and where you want to place it. So I'll go ahead and click on Save and now I'm backed up, just that easy. If I want to double check I can always look into my documents folder or in your case wherever you're saving it and double check, there is my newly created Bento back up file. Now things happen, you never know what might happen while you're working with a database or in Bento's case a library, what if for instance for some reason I inadvertently delete a field and now when I go back to my smart OK field my sales information is gone. Well if you've been backing up you can always revert to your last back up or any back up that you have saved from Bento. So you may elect to use yesterday's back up or last weeks back up. But the point is you can always revert back to the last back up that you've created, by simply choosing so. Click on Open, are you sure you want to revert data, be aware that when you do this any changes that you made from the last time you backed up will be lost, because you are restoring the information back to the way it was when you backed up. Click on Continue and that's it, I'm done. Now if I switch back to companies, look at my annual sales numbers have returned back to me. So again, back up, back up, back up it is critical that you do this on regular basis.
