Hello everyone and welcome to the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Quick Start, brought to you by Virtual Training Company. My name is Dwayne Ferguson and I'm going to be your guide on this tour of the features in Photoshop CS3. As you can see, Photoshop CS3 is an extremely popular and powerful image editing application. You can do stuff like this very easily. I have a picture of a cow and I also have a picture of a spaceship, which of course I got from a clipart collection called the Hemera Photo CD Clipart. I bought this from my favorite computer store and I brought these into Photoshop. What you can do is you can combine them and you can add your own special effects to wind up with something like this. Of course, you can do a lot more fancy things in this application, so what this tour is going to do for you is get you up and running right away. So you install your application. You're wondering, alright, what do I do now? Well, we're going to show you some of the interface elements and some of the tools and some cool techniques just to get you started and get your feet wet with this application. Photoshop is the most powerful and popular application of its kind for a good reason. That's because it has 400 million and a half tools. Now it's the one-half tool that's hard to master and I haven't even gotten there yet. Photoshop has no right and wrong. That's something I always say because it's true. If a client asks you and I to create clouds, you're going to have a different technique than I might have and that's a good thing because you're not constrained. It's only up to what you know and what I know and the tools available to both of us, which are the same exact tools. So one of us might go and create a new document like this and what we'll do isÉlet me just go ahead and wait for this document to open. I have a lot of things going here. So I'm going to open this new document and let's say that the client says I want you to make some clouds. So I'm going to fill my foreground color with blue and I'm going to fill my background color with white and then what I'll do is I'll fill this in with blue, then I'll go to filter, and then what I'll do probably is go to render and I'll choose clouds, and now I have clouds. Another technique you might want to useÉlet me undo thatÉyou might just want to grab some ellipses. You might want to grab an ellipse and you want to just, you know, draw one. Let me just go ahead and copy this guy and put one here, put one here, put one there, and put one there and, you know, resize them all over. Then what you'll do is you go to the filter menu, you choose blur. You put a Gaussian blur and ka-bam, another way to make clouds. So as you can see, Photoshop is simply a toolbox. It's sitting in front of you on your computer and you take your imagination and you come up with ways to come up with solutions and that's the beauty of this application. So what this quick start is going to do is help you get started and hopefully you'll have a good time and learn about this application and then take the plunge and take the full course and really get to master Photoshop CS3.
