Throughout this tutorial, I have chosen to go beyond the basics. As I go into each screen, you will notice that I will point out generalizations about what we are looking at. However, I may not always go icon to icon on the screen itself. For instance, if I click on the customer area, you'll notice in the information section that it has our standard address information. I will talk about this as a general component without actually talking about the individual phone, the individual fax. When you're looking at each of these tutorials and you're looking for a bit more of the basics, know that QuickBooks offers a host of solutions for finding out answers to working with its components. For instance, right on our home page you'll see under the coaching section that we have tutorials. If I click on the tutorial, it will break QuickBooks down into its learning center for each area. This is a great way to learn the basics of QuickBooks. For instance, if you're not sure of the individual tasks on the home page, the tutorial will talk to you about how to click each one and go into them in great detail. If I close out of this area, I return to the home page. Now, please note that the coach was intended for someone who is new to QuickBooks. If you've used QuickBooks for a bit or you're ready to go beyond the basics, you may find that the tutorial information is an introductory level rather than intermediate to advanced. Now, at the top of our screen, of course, we have our help menu. There's a number of different solutions up here that we have also. We have our learning centers tutorials, which we were just at, the QuickBooks User Community, which will take you to a chat room or a forum to find out answers to questions and you'll notice that you have the QuickBooks help menu. The QuickBooks help menu is a great guide to specific questions within QuickBooks. If you are connected to the internet, you have the choice of looking the information up on your screen or go to the internet for that same question. I recommend going to the search function of the help menu. If you're unsure of an item, simply type in the name. In this case, I'm going to type in home page. When I type in home page and click on the go arrow, you will see that QuickBooks will go through its knowledge base and find each of the items relating to the home page. At this point, I simply click on one of the items and it'll take me into the help menu. You'll notice in the case of the home page, it points out the coach that is here to go through the tutorials with us. Keep in mind that more information is always available through the knowledge base of QuickBooks and also through the tutorials. You also may wish to point out that there will be an advanced tutorial for QuickBooks also available.
