The item tool, when selected, allows you to cut, copy, or paste active items entirely. You can also delete a Bezier point by using the delete key or you can move entire items when they’re selected using the arrow keys. You can also activate a group by selecting only one of its items and you can change the line attributes of an active text path. To access the standard marquee pointer, which is a cross hair, click and drag. To add or remove from the marqueed selection, press shift when you drag. The arrow pointer is displayed when you’re not over an active box and once you move over an active box, you have the mover pointer. When you move over an active anchor point, then your pointer turns into a little finger allowing you to then move the anchor point of your box to resize. Both the content tool and the item tool are interchangeable in the selection and manipulation of boxes, lines, and text paths or to import and apply styles to pictures. As we go through the tutorial, we’re going to move between the content and the item tool.
