The Tool Palette / Introduction

Subtitles of the Movie

When performing a task you need the right tool. The tools palette lets you create and place boxes, lines, pictures, texts. It lets you to rotate items, link text boxes and lets you enlarge and reduce the view of the document. There’s an additional tool palette now to QuarkXPress 5.0 it is the web tools palette and it is available when you’re working in a web document. To display the tools palette, navigate under view and down to tools and show tools. You can also navigate under view and show web tools when you start a document but you do not have a document actually up. Change the orientation of the palette by pressing the control key and then double clicking on the title bar of the palette. You can change the orientation from vertical to horizontal. To close a palette just click on the close box in the upper left hand corner or navigate up to view and down to hide tools or use the F8 to close or open the tools palette. When you open a document and in this case we’re going to open a print document, the web palette will disappear. You can select a tool and navigate through the tool bar by holding down the command key, the option key and then pressing tab. This allows you to rotate through the tools palette. By using your keyboard command and adding shift to that so you go command, option, shift, and tab, that lets you rotate back. To customize the tools palette, click on the tool that you want to add to the tools palette and when you click, hold down the control key. This will add it to your tools palette. Press the control key when you want to hide that tool and it’ll go back into your regular default tools.
