The Interface / The Interface

Subtitles of the Movie

A brief overview of the QuarkXPress interface will reveal that the menus and dialog boxes adhere to the Mac operating system and the Windows conventions. The menu bar at the top displays the menus that are available in QuarkXPress. Window is included in the Windows operating system. The menu bar can also display Quark extensions and third party extension software. The menu entries display keyboard shortcuts to the right. A context menu can be displayed by holding down the control key and clicking on the Mac operating system or right clicking on the Windows operating system. A check mark in a menu will indicate either a function has been performed or that a feature is turned on or a format from a list has been applied. By choosing a menu item that is followed by ellipsis points, this displays a dialog box. You can navigate through the dialog box by holding down control, option and tab and this will tab you through the tabs at the top and then by entering a number in any of the fields of any of the dialog boxes, this will be applied to your operation. The navigational dialog boxes that are under either open or save allow you to navigate through the discs and folders so that you can locate your files or choose where you want to save your file. There are alert dialog boxes that warn you when there is a problem and often will suggest solutions.
