QuarkXPress is an electronic publishing software or another word for it is a page layout electronic environment where you can place text, pictures, lines, and other graphic elements to create any kind of publication for print or for the web as is the case in QuarkXPress 5. You can use black and white on a custom sized business card all the way up to multi colored pages for the magazines. Quark allows you the ability to perform all layout and production tasks while ultimately making the publication process easier and faster. The finished documents can output on a home printer or on a high-end commercial printer. As we go through these tutorials, the resolution has been altered on my machine to 250 colors. This is only for our production purposes and file size. I am using the Mac during these tutorials and so all keyboard commands are in reference to the Mac. When there is a definite difference between the Mac and Windows applications, I will reference the Windows application.
