This video is a little bit about me, the author of this series of videos. My name is Al Anderson. I live in northwest Montana. I have lots of different interests here. Uh, we like doing lots of outdoor kind of stuff. I do like taking pictures here. You can see this top picture actually was taken off of my porch one day. We live up, a little bit up above a lake, Flathead Lake, and we can see the Mission Mountains off to the southeast of us and one morning there was a cloud bank over the lake and the town where we live and there was a cloud layer above that, but you could see the sun kind of peeking out in between there and highlighting those mountains there. It was pretty good. And I like taking pictures of flowers and these are just some flowers around. I have a lot of varied interests when it comes to programming. I've actually done two other VTC series, training series. One is on Ruby on Rails and one was on REALbasic, so this will be the third series that I've done. My programming experience starts back from when I was, oh gosh, 16 or 15. I think I had an Apple II Plus and I programmed a game, uh, lots of games actually. I remember one of the first games I played around with, I had a little joystick with it. I programmed a game doing Star Wars because it was about the time Star Wars was out. Like Ô78ish, '79, somewhere in there. And I had a little Ty fighter I hand drew in bit, in bytes, in other words, in the memory where I had to peek and poke and I drew this little Ty fighter and then I could move it around. It had little lasers that shot out of it and gosh, if I would have only known, you know, what I was doing, I could have capitalized on that, but, you know, I was only 15 like I said, or maybe even 14. I don't remember. I was pretty young and not smart enough to know that I was on the cusp of something and I could have taken advantage of that. Oh well. My current, uh, programming experience runs the gamut. I teach programming, uh, at a college I'll tell you about in a second and I've taught a couple different languages there. C, C Plus Plus, Java, Scheme we've tried a little bit. So I've done some different languages there and have some experience. I've programmed a number of applications that are in production use, including a help desk application, NE Learning Management System, so I've got some experience with some production stuff. I've sold a little bit of shareware. Nothing currently out there, but I did do an airport utility at one point a couple years ago using Coco on the Mac. Like I said, I work at Salish Kootenai College. I'm the IT Director there. Along with that I teach in the IT Computer Science Computer Engineering area, primarily programming in the networking, networking is really my main background. You can see a couple pictures. This is just a header from our website with some of the buildings and people there. Here's a view outside of our office. We actually have a new office being built, a 14,000 square foot building that we're going to be moving into. And here you can see a couple pictures of, um, some of the stuff just fooling around with my family, Fourth of July Fireworks and stuff. So that's a little bit about your author, me, and I hope you have enjoyed this video series.
