Your bounce will be the duration of your selection, all tracks that are routed to the designated bounce main will be included in the bounce. You can bounce the output of your mini modules, through auxiliary tracks, and all audio tracks that are routed appropriately. When you've set your routings correctly, and made your selection, you choose bounce to disk, you designate the bounce source, usually your main out and the format, and if you are bouncing 24 to 16, you'd have conversion options here as well. We are just doing a dummy bounce, but it is pretty simple. In a real bounce, the settings you use would be dependent on the destination of your file; you might be bouncing from multi-media, in which case you can bounce to 8 bit, using the squeezer; or you can bounce 24 or 16 like we are here, but always copy the name that you type in here, to the clipboard. Because it is common to realize that we made a mistake or forgot to switch something on, and when we do, we hit Command period to abort the bounce. Where here, I just remembered that I wanted to fade the piano in against the vocal, so I can automate that quickly or just lay in a fade, audition - ah that's much better. Now I can knock my view back, and reselect the length of my bounce; and actually I like real time bouncing, I consider it a part of the creative process. Where of course under a deadline, you might have another perspective. But, when it comes to song, analyzing the integrity of our mixes is critical at each stage, and we use the bounce process for this purpose. And remember our title is on the clipboard, so we paste it in, give it a new number and go. And as I was saying, dependent on the destination, you could make several bounces or many bounces, of your mix. Here we will lose the dither and the limiting, because we are going to bounce out at 24 bit, and send this mix to a mastering house in Denver. And sometimes, when you send out to a mastering house, you can send them your version of the 16 bit mastered mix that's been dithered for reference, and the mastering house will probably be polite and say thank you; but most likely, they will throw your version out with the trash, just take out your 24 bit file and optimize it, using their high end mastering gear. So we learn to bounce for each destination, or each occasion, using our session as the mother. And bearing our creations to the world.
