The Interface / Memory Dots

Subtitles of the Movie

Many applications give you the ability to rearrange things to your own liking. Let's say, for example, you don't want the Camera Controls here but you want them over here somewhere and you want everything put somewhere else because it's how you're used to working. Well, there's something called Memory Dots inside of Poser that will do just that for you. Now Dots can be good and can be bad, so let me show you how to fix things if you happen to just go all out and mess up entirely. First of all, we can get to the Memory Dots by going to the Window Menu and then we can select Memory Dots and down here I have this floating window with my Memory Dots. Now these dots, when you click on them, will give you the ability to change your Interface as you notice here. I clicked on a Dot that I had stored already and my Interface completely changed. Now, as you see I have two dots here: this. and this This. currently doesn't have anything stored with it, so when you want to get rid of a Dot all you have to do is Alt, or Option, click on it and it goes away. So as you can see my Interface is entirely different, so I'm going to show you how to continue to modify this and then fix it if you don't like it anymore. Alright, so I'm going to just click at the Light Controls here at the top and just pull that off and throw it where I see a blue outline, so when it's blue I can let go and it lives there now. I'll go to my Editing Tools, click and drag that off and put those over here. And, let's see, I will grab these guys here, let me just tear that off and by the way, if you're having a difficult time tearing it off just move your mouse until you see the hand above a particular section like so. When you see the hand you can click and rip it off. If you don't want to dock it, just let it float, so you can just you know let it hover like that. But I'm going to just go ahead and dock that over here anyway, so I'll go ahead and grab that guy and I'll just dock it right here. Now, if you look at my Memory Dots I can click and I've just stored that. So I'm going to go back to the original; here's the first one and here's my second one. So it's pretty handy. So as you can see I can change what I'm working with. Now what do I do to get back to the original? Even if I click on any of these other dots nothing happens. Where is my original factory default setting? Ah! That's the tricky part. You see, this. right here can be bad for you if you don't want to keep this. and you want to go back to the original. So, what I suggest is, for your original setting create a Dot and then change thing around and click on a new Dot. So, once again, at the default click on the Dot, rearrange things and add a new Dot. OK. So, now that I can't get back to my original what do I do? I'm going to go to the Poser Preferences here and I'm going to go to the Interface tab and I can choose a Launch Behavior. I can say Launch to a Previous State, which would be what I have now, or Launch to Factory State. So I'm going to Launch to Factory and click OK. I'm going to quit Poser and I'm going to relaunch Poser. Recent Items, Poser 8 and in a second we should be back to normal. Ah! There we go. No place like home. So, as you can see there's a way to mess up those Dots if you're not careful. So, once again, to access the Dots go to Window, Memory Dots.
