The Interface / Palettes

Subtitles of the Movie

All around Poser you will find windows called Palettes. Palettes contain different functionality. For example, if I go to the Window Menu I can open up the Graph Palette and this is it right here. This Window hovers over the Interface and it allows me to control my animation. I can always get rid of one of these guys by clicking the little guy here and it goes away. They always live in this Window Menu so if you ever find that your space is cluttered feel free to collapse them and just get them when you need them. For example, let's say I don't want the Camera Controls. I'll just tear that off by clicking until I see the hand and, just in case you didn't see that I'll put it back. I'm going to click, when I see the hand over the name, hold down the mouse and then drag. Over the Main Camera View when I let go I now have a hovering, or floating Palette. This little box in the upper right-hand corner when I click on it gives me some options as well, so I can choose to have the window Docked, Floating, or Drag Docking Enabled. I can even choose to Close it. And in that case I can get it back by going to Window and find the name of the window that I closed and there is the Palette. The beautiful thing about Palettes is that you can put them wherever you'd like. So I can hover my mouse over the Palette until I see the hand, click, hold the mouse down and when I move it next to another Palette or a part of the Interface that I can dock to I will see these little color pieces here. When I let go on one of them, let's say I let go here, these Controls now live there. They are now Docked in that spot, which is pretty cool. So, don't ever feel that you have gone too far and you can't really get it back over there. You can always put your mouse back over there until you see the hand and just put it back where you had it originally. Likewise, you can always go to your Preferences and you can go to the Document tab and choose the Launch Behavior. So you can tell Poser that I really put these Palettes in places I'm not really happy with so I want to quit the application and then launch again to the Factory State. This means that when you relaunch Poser it's going to launch the exact fashion in which you installed it. However, you can always choose to launch to a Preferred State. So, I'm going to click Cancel. And that is how you can find and move around and dock and even have the Palettes float.
