My whole career I've drawn superheroes so capes and things blowing in the wind as superheroes fly around are pretty important to me. Fortunately you can do something like that inside of Poser. All you need is something to have the wind affect you need to have something we haven't covered yet, under the Object Menu, a wind force. So I'm going to create a wind force so we can at least look at what it looks like. I'm going to go to my Direct Manipulation Tool. I'm simply going to rotate this guy around and I'm also going to lift him up a little bit and I rotate him and what I'm going to do is I'm going to zoom in so we can see what this is exactly. So let's go back out a little bit. These controls are so touchy, I tell you, when you're using a Wacom tablet. OK, almost there. See? It's like the wind is blowing the wind force. OK, here it is. The wind force is like a little turbine. It's got a fan in there and it also has these little projections here. This indicates the wind itself and the range of that wind. For example, as you can see, wind is not going to blow very far in this case. Now let's go ahead and take a look at how we can control the wind force itself. And if you look over here, the wind force has its own properties. We have amplitude, which is the power of that wind; we have the spread angle, which is the angle of the wind as you can see here. It's going to go very, very low angle there and a higher angle. That's really cool if you want to do things like blow something off a table and only affect that object. We have the range which will increase or decrease how far the wind is going to blow and we also have turbulence. Turbulence is very handy when you want to have something blowing or billowing, like a cape or a flag. So I'm going to go ahead and increase my turbulence to five. I'll make my amplitude 15 and what I'm going to do now is add a thing for it to blow on. I'm going to grab the Square Hi-Res from the Props and what I'm going to do is I'm going to move that guy up. So let's go and move this up in the Y axis. This is going to be my cape object and I'll also move it on the X. I'm also going to rotate my whole scene a little bit so we can see what's happening. Now, with this guy we have to clothify it so we have to head to the Cloth Room, create a brand-new simulation, click OK. Let's go ahead and clothify it and then I'm going to go over here to create something called a dynamic group. That's the object that's going to be billowing. So I'll go ahead and create a new dynamic group. I'll call it Cape or we can call it curtain, can be anything. Then I have to create what's called a Choreographic Group. Now, I think it's kind of a crazy name because it doesn't make much sense. Many applications that I open up, I just simply click on things and try to figure out what they are. To me choreography, I'm looking for somebody to dance. So I think something like pinned group or static group would sound more obvious. The Choreograph Group is the object that's not going to move so I'm going to go to where it says Choreograph Group here and I'm going to add some points. These guys are now in the Choreograph Group and they're not going to be affected by the wind. So I'm going to leave that alone and all I have to do at this point is calculate the simulation. Notice how the air is billowing right in the middle of this object, like a cape as I mentioned earlier or a drape. Now, it's passing by the wind source here so it's not having any effect anymore. And I'll go ahead and play that simulation. So as you can see, you can have a gust of wind blowing through a drape or a character's cape. Let me go ahead and cancel this calculation here. If you ever want to try again, just go ahead and clear the simulation and then you can always go back to your wind object, click on my Props here. I got my Force Field and I can affect its properties but I want to change the way it works. So I can make it more powerful or I can make it softer and so on. So what I'm going to do is head back to my Pose Room and I'm going to really up the power of this guy and make this 30, which is going to super-duper. And I'll increase my turbulence to 15 and I'm going to go back and do that simulation again. So let's go to Cloth and let's calculate the new simulation. A lot more turbulence happening now and I'll go ahead and play the simulation. And that is how you can use the wind to create a simulation of something moving or being affected by a wind source.
