Subtitles of the Movie
I'm just going to finish out this item in this movie. Now, if I want to put a link right there, I hold that. Let's see, I'm just doing kind of something weird here, seeing if I can pull it off. Always maintain quads, no matter what. There we go. That looks all right. Okay, so, yeah. It looks like a little Peter Pan sword, right? It's good for a lesson, though. Make a little sword. And now what I'm going to do here is develop it so it actually has thickness. If I want the blade to be thinner I can go in here, make sure you hold Shift, and you can move these in. I'm going to leave it with a little tiny crystal thing at the end, maybe, and maybe thin up this handle a little bit. So after the fact you can actually go like this and it won't break the symmetry on this angle. Okay, so I want it to be a 3D object now, how do I do that? Okay? First off, always triple check things. This line that's running down here. Why is it happening? Is it something in here? Ah, see. Triple check stuff with the topology tools, but a lot of times you can spot that stuff right off the bat. Okay, let's look at it again, see I've got a line that's running down here. Why? Again, it's having a hard time understanding this line right here and why can't I join to it. Green, so it should join. Okay, that looked like it joined, and let's go all the way down here, look for the green and that looks a lot better structure right there. Okay, now I'm ready for the thickness, only after I double-checked everything. So, this time, I'm going to hit A to go back to this mode, rank my Skin Thickness up to like maybe right about here, and you can start seeing, well, that's a little thicker, see? Now I have actual substance to my sword. Let's go all the way to 1, Wham. We have a sword, sort of. Okay, now I can go like this and convert it to 8, make an Adapt a Skin out of it, and there we go. We have a sword. Now I can divide it up and sculpt all day long on it. Okay, that's how you make things, or make shapes out of topology tools. To actually make this out of ZSpheres it wouldn't be possible because of this edge loop that occurs all the way around this tip of the sword, so just kind of know things like that, and now you can go in here with the Move tool. And here's that little, little spoiler. Okay, right now I'm modeling in x, or mirroring in x, so if I mirror in x, and z at the same time I can then go in here with the Move tool and really, you know, start getting some different shapes with this. Now, sometimes it's going to run into a problem, so you've got to make your brush a little bit bigger. So, just get the overall shape. Don't be so hung up on what it looks like in Topology tools, because a lot of times, you know, that's just a step along the way. You can then form it up a little bit easier using the other tools after the fact. Especially sharpening it. Delete Higher, then divide. See? All right, so that's it for this movie, and I just wanted to show you how to make shapes with topology tools.
