Introduction / System Requirements pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie, I'm further going to explore system parameters for ZBrush and kind of show you what you need as far as equipment goes. Okay, another thing that kind of plays importance here is if we hop over to motherboards, take for example, and you'll see that these are actually AMD Intel boards, whether AMD or Intel, ZBrush runs the same. Here's what I recommend though. The makers of motherboard actually make video cards too, and the two go hand-in-hand and really do play an important part. Is it so important? No. But, think about this. A company that makes the actual motherboard makes the video card, they test those things together, so that's why you know, you should always marry your video card and main board together. Again, this is newegg dot com, just for an example, but I use this a lot and you might want to always check your ratings too on devices because a lot of users post a lot of very useful stuff on this. Okay, so there's my MSI board, so I might have MSI Video at the top, and bam. There are all my MSI video cards that would just coincide with that. And another thing, I do recommend MSI, it's never done me wrong. Let's further explore what else you need for ZBrush to function correctly, and I briefly said SATA drives, so make sure when you're doing your investigation with motherboards, and I'll just use MSI again for an example. When you go to specifications on it, just make sure you know, it does support SATA. SATA-rate, there's my SATA 3 gigabytes. Okay, what's the difference between a raid and 3 gigabytes here? Raid can co-exist across many hard drives, so I can have hard drives all lined up in a row like let's say, 300 gig hard drives, and I can stripe those together and part of the information would go onto one drive, part of the information goes on the other drive, and it becomes even faster because it's not using one drive now to actually write information. So, that's just a little thing about SATA Raid. It's very powerful if you can set it up. It's kind of a pain, though. But it does function quite well with ZBrush. And, let's see, well, I think that's all you would actually fully need for ZBrush to work. Again, I would stay away from Windows Vista 64 bit, I would always go with the True Windows 64 bit Pro and leave Vista to be developed for a while. Okay. So, that's it for this movie and on with the rest.
