Beginners Workflow / Adding Texture to Zbrush
Subtitles of the Movie
Okay In this movie, we're going to apply the textures to the model and what we're going to do is go to the Material and change it to something we can paint on a little bit better. Let's go to Fast Cheater 5, we get this, okay, let's first apply the overall rock texture to the rock plane. This is a good base to start out with. So let's import that in, if you didn't save it. Rocks, there we go. Now, in order to apply this texture what we have to do is go to Texture, go to Texture to Colors. And there we go, it's applied to the model. The texture is off and it's still there. Okay, another thing I like doing is painting some of the stuff, like let's paint some of the stuff in here. But I want to paint with the texture. So I'm going to briefly introduce Projection Master at this point in the workflow. So I'm just going to hit Projection Master, Color, Fade, and Drop. Now, okay. It's going to jump into this mode, which I cannot rotate around in, by clicking and dragging is not going to hurt anything. So over here, I'm going to jump over to my Directional Brush; this allows me to paint texture really well. I'm going to go over to my Texture, and import my Ground cover. Okay, I'm going to change it over to Drag Rectangle, and start clicking and dragging this texture out in these flat spots. And you can go on to the rocks, it doesn't really matter at this point. What it's going to do is pick it up straight, so no matter what, see I won't be able to get way back here because this is behind the camera. So I'm just going to paint a little bit just to show you how that works. And if I turn the resolution of the RBG intensity up, it will make it clearer. Okay, let's go Projection Master and pick that up. And you can see I have a little bit of drop-off here, see it right there? Or it became a little bit not so clear? I'm not really worried about that right now, but just know it has to do with how many polys it is. I'm not going to divide this any further. So what I did, I jumped into another camera angle and dropped it and picked it up now, and I can do all around the model like this. Let's do that for another example. Like over here, Projection Master, Color, Save, Drop now, paint some more texture on it, then Projection Master, Pick up Now. Okay, just like that. Okay. Another thing I like doing, let's drop it again, is let's do that with the texture of the rock. Let's go in here and let's just click a few times out and add some of that texture here, then Projection Master, Pick Up Now. Okay. Not too bad for a start. So that's applying texture to a model.
