Subtitles of the Movie
Okay, In this movie, we're going to cover the How to Make an Alpha using Photoshop. Very handy. What's in Photoshop that is not in ZBrush that would take advantage of? Hmm. I wonder. Brushes, right? Photoshop has a million brushes, and if you're a digital artist, you've probably downloaded two other million brushes, and you probably used two out of the two million brushes that you own. Texture artists have a bajillion textures, and they probably use two of whatever they have over and over and over again. So, we have that ZBrush now to take advantage of all those useless texture and Photoshop brushes at our disposal. Okay, this is how it's done in Photoshop. File, New, 1024 1024, Transparent background. Hit OK. Pick a brush, any brush. I pick this snowflake, for example. Use the mouse. Here's a tip. Click on the left mouse button, voila! Alpha. File, Save As, save it somewhere onto your hard drive. A quick way to get over to ZBrush: Alt and tab, with ZBrush open. Import that. So all I did was Alpha, Import, Texture, and you'll notice mine is in reverse, when it first starts in, so I have to go Alpha Inverse. Trust me, you want to do it on a transparent background though. Don't try to match the black values. It's almost impossible. Okay, something to sculpt on. In one of the movies I had you make a plane. So, Make Plane. All that did was go over there, made a 3D plane, divided it up, turned it into a polymesh, that way, when I turn on Frame, you can see it's made of a million polys. Very fast for testing out these brushes. Okay, let's mount that Alpha again, and let's go over to the Drag Rectangle Tool, and click it out. Now, you'll see, here's where we start falling into that category, Hey, how do we fix this? I've got this line? How do I fix it? Well, in these lessons I had you do the Min Value, now, if you notice, if I adjust the Min Value, however, it's making it worse, and if it's already at zero and it's still there, what we have to do is go to the Contrast setting right here, and turn the contrast setting up a little bit. See? No line. So, Contrast to sharpen it and get rid of this line right here. Okay, there you go. Now you can do those Christmas scenes every year in ZBrush. All right! And that's [00:02:40 it with this movie and we'll get on with the rest of the movies.
