3D Tools / Uniformed Geometry
Subtitles of the Movie
Okay, so to make very friendly, craftable objects within ZBrush what we have to do here is take an object and make a different kind of uniformed scale on it, or uniformed ability on it, so it's easily done, you just have to know a few tricks. Okay, so let's take the 3D cube for example. Let's go in here, grab a 3D cube, click and drag it out and hit Edit. Let's turn this into a uniformed square that we can use to maybe sculpt on, okay? Now let's go down here and go to Unified Skin. It says Resolution of Skin. Well, I want the bare minimum resolution, absolutely bare minimum, so I'm going to lower this all the way down to 8, 8 sides on the square. This Smooth, I'm going to knock that down because a square is not smooth. Auto Size, I'm going to keep that on, and I'm going to say Make Unified Skin. Okay? Now, if you go to the top here you'll see this new thing called Skin Cube 3D, so I click on it, you'll see I have a Uniformed Square. All right. What if I want it lower than this? What if I want to kind of, I want maybe absolutely no sides whatsoever to it. I just want you know, the 8 sides, 8 polys. Okay. In order to lower the resolution of any 3D object, see right here the geometry, it has this subdivide slider, but right now it's blank, so it doesn't have any depth or dividing history to it. So, what we can do here is first we have to go to Texture and enable UVs. After we enable UVs, we can now reconstruct subdivie the history on the object. Click, click. There we go. Now we have the bare minimum square. Okay, so we're going to be using this an awful lot, this square. And we're also going to be making a very nice circle every once in a while, so let's work on a workflow, starting out right off the bat. Let's make ZBrush do all what I just did, all these little buttons and clicks that I just did because I do not want to do that as I'm sculpting on things. I want to just sculpt. I don't want to be a scientist, I just want to be an artist, okay? So, that's in the next movie.
