As the final exercise in this course, if you want to try it out, you could write a script to allow a user to search for data from a database table, using an HTML form. I will just show you an example of what I mean, in our web browser here. Here is the script which is, as always, included with the source code on the CD. And we are able to search by label, in which case a different set of items are shown in the select box. And we are able to search by artist. When we hit the submit button, the set of data is returned that matches our criteria. So this uses several different things that we've learnt recently on this course, and that involves database interactivity, handling forms in the CGI environment, and moving between different pages of our CGI scripts. You could in fact carry all of this out from one script, as I have done here. I've included also the database schema in plain SQL. It's made for Mysql, but you should be able to modify it to work with the database management system of your choice, or you can make up your own database. There's no data in it, you'll have to add some data of your own, [00:01;52.0] if you want to use the database that I have included. I hope you enjoy tackling this exercise if you do so. And on a broader note, I hope you have enjoyed this course, and that you find it useful, and indeed you find the whole Perl language useful whatever you intend to use it for.
