Well you might think this image is finished, and you certainly could be right. I really want to see what happens when I combine two versions of the same image as layers; so I am going to open up the original once again, that is pink flower in the source pix, from Joseph's pix, flowers, pink flower, there it is. I am simply going to select all, and using the adjuster tool drag it on over to the tessellated version, And I don't have to save that original. Well of course at 100% in default method, it's covering up the mosaic version completely. But if we switch to another method, in this case gel, we can begin to see some combination effects; this might be a little too dark, colorize is somewhat more attractive, but it's got certain areas that I think I have a little bit too much saturation. So let's just keep looking. Reverse out I know I am not going to like, but that's what it looks like - it just make a negative of whatever it's on top of. Shadow map: that's also kind of dark. Magic combine: it has a very interesting painterly kind of look, the tiling almost looks like chicken wire on top of the flower. Let's keep looking: multiply is always going to be darker, and screen is always going to be lighter. Either of those are fairly appealing; overlay looks pretty good actually; soft light doesn't have that much effect, notice soft light and then just turning off the layer completely. It actually does improve it somewhat so I wouldn't ignore that. Hard light is bound to be considerably brighter, and again we start to get again that chicken wire effect; darken, lighten. Difference can be interesting although in this case not very, and we might as well go through all of the rest. And now I am thinking that either color or colorize - ooh, well that's kind of interesting: luminosity. You know even if you understand the formula for these composite methods, it's still a good idea to check them out. You might be surprised in this case I think pleasantly so with luminosity, although I still think there is considerable goodness to come not from that one, not from that one, but from magic combine - kind of like that. Well you can just sit here all day of course and play and I hope you do.
