I need to drag the pencil layer to the top where it belongs, and I can see from the original red onion image that there are some pink highlights that I might want to add. So let's make a new layer for that. A pencil doesn't need to be in gel, it should be default. And a new layer then at the top will be painted with a dry medium this time. Soft pastel - I've got my light pink chosen and I'll put some pink in there. And some pink over here. Let's just see the original once again, that looks pretty good. And I can if I wish bring the layer 4 down and we still see the pink showing through. I can also add some strokes to the pencil layer. I would like to make this area darker, I'd better go and choose the tool that I had before, that was the grainy variable pencil. That needs to be black however. I'm going to add some of those little root forms at the bottom, and I'll do that with pink, and I'll switch to the pen tool for that, the fine point. And just make a few little scribbles for that. Now I'd like to add a color layer in order to alter the color of the entire image. So that means yet another new layer at the top and I'm going to find a purple color and pour that or fill that new layer with the new color. At 100% opacity of course it's going to cover everything, but I'll simply change the composite method to something else. Now I don't want the white to be filled with this color, so Joe isn't going to do it for me. Colorize does nicely, but it is a little too strong still. So I'll reduce the opacity of this layer and now I have more of a purple onion kind of look. At this point I believe we are just about done. I want to flatten this image and make sure that when I do it looks the same as it does now. Let's see what would happen if I simply drop all - that worked. So we can now save it as a jpeg or a tiff or another kind of more generic format. I'll choose tiff at this point and change the suffix and there we are.
