Introduction / Brush Controls Pt.1
Subtitles of the Movie
The brush controls palette contains several sections, which can be used to make either minor changes in brush behavior or significant changes, which could lead to your saving new variants. Each of these sections controls a different aspect of brush behavior, and not all of them are available for every brush. So I have chosen an Impasto brush - the smeary flat variant: that's what that looks like. And angle and bristle and airbrush and rake and liquid ink sections are not available. So you might as well just ignore those if you want to make some changes. Impasto of course is available and you might make this a thicker brush by increasing the depth amount. So lets see what that looks like, that's with more depth. By the way you can turn depth on or off with this little amoeboid looking item on the edge of the image window. Well if that's too much depth, I might just want to restore the default variant in this fashion. The general controls show the dab type, and there are many more dab types available with Painter7 than they have ever been before. Stroke type is still either single, multi, rake or hose. This particular case only single is available. Let's see what happens if we choose a pen. In this case we can see that there are alternate strokes available, stroke types and methods and sub category. For size you get to not only choose the ultimate size but you also can choose the distribution of ink or paint according to the profile. In this case we've got a profile showing that the paint is going to be distributed equally throughout the entire stroke. If we simply change to a stroke that looks like this, then there will be a softer edge on the distribution as you can tell between these two items. Let me just get rid of those. This kind of profile will give you a build up of pigment on the edges instead of in the center
