Cloned Portrait / Create New Cloner Variant

Subtitles of the Movie

If you are not happy with some area of the painting as it is developing, don't erase. Just go and smear once again so that you can get rid of the detail that you don't like and work this area in some other way. And I have an idea for creating another variant in the cloner group. I am going to go back to the Van Gogh cloner, which normally works a little something like that, and I am going to use brush controls to create an Impasto version of this cloner. So by default it draws with color only, if we say color and depth, it'll have a thick paint effect and I can test this out now with a stroke. OK that's probably too thick so I'm going to reduce the amount of depth and then check that out. Maybe a little bit more. Let me undo some of those last few strokes. Instead of depth method being uniform, let's have it be dependent on original luminance, that is the luminance of the clone source. That's looking good So at this point I believe I'll save this as a new variant. All I need to do for that is go to the variant menu on the brush's palette, save variant. It started out as the van Gogh cloner; let's call it the van Gogh Impasto cloner, and when we click OK we see that this new cloner has been added to our list. And let's continue painting with this item, possibly a little bit bigger and that size change is going to remain unless we go to the variant menu and revert to the original size by going to the variant menu and restoring the default variant. But I won't do that, I kind of like this big size. So that's looking pretty good. I need to fix some of these areas. And this time not with the Impasto cloner, because I would really like to smear even more, so I'll go to my liquid group and with grainy water selected I'll just go in there and do some smearing; this is a good way for me to get that edge that was created when I added pixels with that smoothed out.
