Subtitles of the Movie

We are almost finished with our cartoon "dinosaur". I'd like to add some texture to the skin and the first thing I'd like to do is choose the kind of paper, that one looks good, that I think would work well as the texture for this dinosaur character So, I'm going to go to effects surface control, apply surface texture using paper. Now I can fiddle around a little bit with the softness setting, I don't want to be too soft. I can change the amount that is the depth, the height, or the strength of the texture and if it's a little bit too strong I can always fade. Now I'll click OK and see what I have. And what I have is the texture all over the paper which I don't want to have What I want is texture just on the dinosaur's body. So I'll need to select it with the magic wand and I'll go back to repeat that last thing which is at the top of the list, apply surface texture, I can still reach my paper palette back there and I would like to increase the scale a little bit of the scales and maybe soften it a little bit more, and now I'll click OK and it will cover just the green area or the skin surface of our fellow. Now I can deselect. The problem with just doing that fill is that I really can't vary the amount of texture on different parts of the body. In order to be able to vary the amount of texture in various parts of the dinosaur it will take a little bit of planning ahead. I'll just undo that texture fill and make a clone copy and I'll apply texture to the clone -let's zoom out a bit more. So I will select the green area with the magic wand and apply that surface texture once again. And deselect. Now because I have that clone of previous state as a resource, I can use a cloner brush, a soft cloner, to paint back areas where I want the texture to be less strong. See if I can drag my controls up here a little bit. A little bit more opacity and I'll give him a little bit less texture on his belly. And perhaps a little bit less on the front of his face, jaw. Zoom out a bit more, and paint some of that flat surface on the inside of the legs and may be on the inside of the tail. Now I have to be terribly careful because the clone also has the black outline. Little bit more variation here as well. Well there we have it, and I'm going to save this as "Dinosaur Bob" which will be useful for a project a little bit later We are going to make a children's book cover with this character.
