In this movie, we'll pick up where we left off previously with a review of the Exam Practice Questions that pertain to the Sequence Activities process. We'll cover questions 6 through 10, so let's go ahead and continue. Question 6 says: The following diagram contains how many network paths? Is it 3, 4, 2, or 5? The answer is 3 paths, so A. There are three ways to get through the network diagram: from Start to A to B to F to G; from Start to A to B to C to G; and from Start to A to D to E to G. Question 7: Which of the following BEST describes a lead? And of the options the correct choice was D, An acceleration of the successor activity. If you got this one wrong it may have simply been that you read the question and options too quickly. A lead takes a successor activity and requires it to begin early making it take a few steps back within the network diagram. This means that it begins before its predecessor activity even finishes and remember that the predecessor is the activity that leads up to it. There is then a period of overlapping between them. Let's move on to question 8: During the early stages of developing the project's schedule, the project manager worked with the project team members to decompose the work packages into activity lists. He then began the process of sequencing the activities. Which network diagramming method is the project manager most likely to use during this process? A - Activity on arrow; B - Arrow diagramming method; C - Precedence diagramming method; or D - Network diagramming method. The answer is C, it's the PDM. It's the most commonly used type of network diagram today. Arrow Diagramming Method, which is also known as Activity On Arrow, is an older method. It's not commonly used today. The option Network Diagramming Method, D, does not refer to a specific type of method and is therefore an inaccurate choice. Moving on to 9: The project manager of a gaming company has just informed the scheduler of a change within the primary seller's contract that altered the dependency type of three activities. What type of dependency is this? Is it A - External; B - Hard logic; C - Soft logic; or D - Preferential. The answer is Hard logic, B. Dependencies that result out of physical or contractual requirements are considered mandatory as was the case in the example provided in the question. Remember that a Mandatory dependency is inherent in the nature of the work being done and it's known by two names: Mandatory and Hard logic. And our final question, number 10: Activity X has a duration of 10 days and activity Y has a duration of 2 days. If activity Y has a start-to-start relationship with activity X and a 2 day lag, what is the duration of both activities combined, assuming that activity Y starts as soon as possible? Is it A - 10; B - 12; C - 8; or D - 4. In a start-to-start relationship the successor activity, which is activity Y, can only start after its predecessor activity has started, which is activity X. If Y starts as soon as possible it would start at the same time as activity X. However, due to the 2-day lag it must wait an additional 2 days after activity X starts in order to begin itself. But regardless of these details the overall duration still winds up to be 10, option A, since activity Y's duration plus the lag is only 4 days total. And that wraps up this movie and section that was filled with exercises and review of the material that pertained to the Sequence Activities process.
