Introduction / How to Get the Most From this Course
Subtitles of the Movie
In this movie, we'll go through an overview of the course structure and the resources that are provided to you within your course Work Files. Knowing what these Work Files are for and utilizing them is meant to help you get as much as possible out of this course. For clarification purposes, the purpose of the course is to specifically focus on the foundation of project scheduling and to generate the list of activities and then sequence them. These are the first steps of developing the schedule. Aside from scheduling foundation, we'll review two processes from the PMBOK Guide very thoroughly, both of which unsurprisingly are part of the project time management knowledge area and that includes define activities and sequence activities. Our primary focus will be on the PMI SP Exam but this course will benefit anyone looking to learn more about scheduling. This course is Part 1 of a three-part series on Project Scheduling. You'll notice that each course is structured in the same way with a brief introduction of the subject, an introduction of the processes covered and an overview of the process inputs, a detailed review of the process's tools and techniques and finally a look at the outputs of the process. By the end of the course we'll also have gone through workbook exercises, exam practice questions and a review of terms covered throughout the course. There are several documents included within your Work Files so it's important that you know what these documents are and when to use them. Included you'll see project terms. The list of terms are also covered in the Term Review Movies towards the end of the course. The term movies simply provide the highlights of each term so additional notes may be necessary as you go through the process review movies. They are listed in alphabetical order. You'll find document labeled Workbook and others titled Quiz. There are three workbooks and three quizzes with each workbook that contain around ten or fifteen exercises and then each quiz contains about fifteen practice exam questions. Here's the list of workbooks and quizzes on your screen. The first one relates to the foundation of a project, schedule management basics and the foundation of scheduling and again, quiz one pertains to workbook one so they go hand in hand. Workbook two and quiz two pertain to the define activities process. Workbook three and quiz three pertain to sequence activities. You also have a practice exam that consists of forty questions. The document within your Work Files is titled Practice Exam and the answers will be reviewed within the exam question movies located towards the end of the course. There's also a document that compares organizational process assets to Enterprise environmental factors, which is referenced during the course. This document is called EEF versus OPA. And that covers all the documents within your Work Files. If you tend to skip exercises during your studies, I recommend taking the extra time to go through the exercise recommendations included within the course and that'll provide you with extra practice and help in remembering and understanding the information. If you're using this course as contact hours or PDUs, it's mandatory to go through the exercises separately. And that wraps up this movie.
