The purpose of this movie is simply to provide you with additional information on the Risk Communication Exam Domain. This domain encompasses 27 percent of the PMI RMP Certification Exam. As I mentioned in a previous movie, Risk Communication includes the following Exam Objectives: Apply interpersonal skills Assess stakeholder risk tolerance; Document risk-related information; and, Create regular status reports. There are just four Exam Objectives but these four items cover a lot of ground. Risk Management includes more than just identifying risks. In order to properly plan, respond, and management risk, you'll need to know a lot about communications. Imagine that as the project manager you discover that a risk was about to be realized, however, you were not able to communicate the necessary information to the appropriate stakeholders and therefore were not able to respond properly in time to the risk that has materialized. In the end you, as the project manager, would be held accountable. Understanding things like the Communications Model, the Communications Plan, and how to Communicate effectively with stakeholders is essential to managing risk. Another point on Risk Communication is documentation for information distribution. Getting information to the right people at the right time, as was also the case in the previous example, can be critical. This not only includes understanding what risk-related information stakeholders expect and how often, but also the ability to communicate effectively with your audience. Presentation skills and techniques are also part of Risk Communication, making sure that everyone is on the same page with a consistent understanding of risk, is also part of this Domain. Other notes on Risk Communication to know include: Communication types and styles; Communication mediums and methods; General management skills; Leadership skills; Information distribution techniques; and, Risk reporting.
