There are a total of 13 workbook exercises included for the request seller responses process, which we will cover within this movie. These exercises can be found within your Work Files. Moving right into our review, question one says what is the purpose of the process. And the purpose of the process is to obtain information, quotes, bids, offers or proposals from potential sellers as appropriate. Let's go through the answers to questions two, three and four, which by now you're familiar with, with a cover. And that's the inputs, which include organizational process assets, procurement management plan and the procurement documents and then the three tools and techniques, which include bidder conferences, advertising and develop qualified sellers list. And the three outputs: qualified sellers list, procurement document package and proposals. Notice that there are three of each as an easy way to at least remember the outputs. Question five: what process group does request seller responses belong to? Some processes are easy to identify since the title tends to give it away. This is not necessarily the case for the request seller responses process. It belongs to the executing process group. Remember that within the Procurement Knowledge Area there are actually two processes that belong to the executing process group and they both relate to selecting the sellers; this process, request seller responses and the next, which is select sellers. Next, what is the purpose of advertising in terms of this process? Advertising allows the buyer to obtain larger lists of potential sellers. And as you might recall, there are some government contracts that require advertising. Question seven: name one medium of advertising mentioned during the process review. Although there are several, we specifically covered two: newspapers and specialty publications. Next, you are asked to define bidder conferences. These are meetings held by the buyer with a group of perspective sellers that takes place before the preparation of the bidder proposal. And you're also asked for the purpose behind bidder conferences in question number nine. And that's to make sure all perspective sellers have a clear and common understanding of the procurement. Question ten: there are several ways to develop a qualified sellers list. What are some sources a buyer may utilize? Once again, there are several items you may have included and there were five that I mentioned during the process review. These were organizational process assets, online sources, local associations, trade catalogs and library directories. Question 11 is a fill-in-the-blank. Blank is a formal request put together by the buyer for the seller to prepare a bid for the product or services being contracted. The answer is procurement document package. Questions 12 seems a little broad, but remember that we're defining these terms in relation to the process. It asks what are proposals. Proposals are the medium that potential sellers use to describe their ability to provide the requested product or service that's being contracted. And the final question is a true or false question. Proposals are considered an informal offer from the seller to the buyer; true or false? The answer is false. Proposals are actually considered formal offers. Not only that, but they're also considered to be a legal offer. Just as an extra tidbit, a buyer may request that the potential seller give an oral presentation following the submission of a proposal if the buyer would like the potential seller to continue on with the selection process, of course. From here we'll close out this movie and section. In the next section to come, we'll move on to the select sellers process.
