Introduction / How to Get the Most of this Course
Subtitles of the Movie
This movie will provide you with an overview of the course structure and the resources that are provided to you within your course Work Files. Knowing what these Work Files are for and utilizing them is meant to help you get as much as possible out of this course. For clarification purposes the purpose of this course is to specifically focus on the last three knowledge areas of the PMBOK Guide, Project Communications Management Knowledge Area, Project Risk Management Knowledge Area and Project Procurement Management Knowledge Area combined with PMBOK parts 1, 2 and 3 we will have covered all the exam objectives for the CAPM and PMP Credential Exams. The goal of this course is to help you understand each individual process within the Knowledge Areas covered and to go one step further and that is to help you see the bigger picture of how they function together. This is what sets this course apart from other courses which is the goal of helping you completely understand the PMBOK Guide so that you can actually apply the contents. In addition we'll also review an extended practice exam, each knowledge area is structured in a same way with a brief introduction of the knowledge area itself, a brief overview of how the processes of the knowledge area interact with each other and then we'll move on to an overview of each individual process. Within each process we'll cover the inputs, the tools and techniques and the outputs. You'll notice that PMBOK Parts 2, 3 and 4 are all formatted in the same way. Be sure to look within your Work Files before going through the course there are several important documents included and some of these documents are formatted to assist you in taking key notes of the processes. The following is a quick summary of the documents included within your Work Files, most of which you'll recognize if you've taken other courses within the course series. The first is Project Terms, you'll notice that most of these terms are blank and then you must fill in the definitions or details. Next you'll find documents labeled Notebook, there is one per knowledge area and it's formatted to take notes for that specific knowledge area and its processes. Next you'll find an assessment document that includes some preliminary questions to the knowledge area overall, these are all formatted in the same way and the goal is to test your current knowledge to see how much you've retained from PMBOK Part 1 of the high level concepts or just to see how much currently know. I recommend going through the assessment before the knowledge area overview, after the knowledge area overview and then again after reviewing all the individual processes. There's a process workbook which contains 8 to 15 questions on average per process. At the end of each process section we'll go over the answers. A extended practice exam is included which I mentioned earlier, it contains questions covering each knowledge area within the PMBOK Guide, the Project Management Framework and also questions on social and professional responsibility which you'll need to be ready for if you're taking the PMP exam. Answers will be reviewed within the exam question movies located towards the end of the course and as always you'll find a process overview sheet that was included in previous courses of the series. This is a great reference sheet to always have handy and there's also a copy in the PMBOK Guide and that covers all the documents within your Work Files, if you tend to skip exercises during your studies, I do recommend taking the extra time to go through the exercises included within this course which will only provide you with extra practice and help in remembering and understanding the information and with that we'll close out this movie.
