In this movie, we will review the Project Scope Management Knowledge Area Assessment Document. As a reminder, the purpose of this assessment is to see how much information you've retained, how much you know and also to practice and lock in the high-level concept of the knowledge area. Whereas you don't necessarily need to memorize all the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs, you do need to remember the processes and what they are responsible for. Let's go through the assessment. The overall purpose of the Scope Knowledge Area is to ensure that the project includes all the work required and only the work required to complete the project successfully. This is what the processes collectively within this knowledge area are striving to achieve. There are a total of five processes, which include Scope Planning, Scope Definition, Create WBS, Scope Verification and Scope Control. And it's important that you know what process group they belong to, so let's go through those as well. The first three, Scope Planning, Scope Definition and Create WBS are all part of the Planning Process Group. And the next two are both part of the Monitoring and Controlling Process Group. In regards to the purpose of each individual process, you don't need to remember them verbatim, but at least have grasped the main concept. So let's go through them. The purpose of the Scope Planning Process is to create the Project Scope Management Plan. The purpose of the Scope Definition Process is to develop a Detailed Project Scope Statement to base future project decisions on. And the purpose of Create WBS is to subdivide the major project deliverables and project work into smaller, more manageable components. And the purpose of Scope Verification is to obtain the stakeholders' formal acceptance of the completed Project Scope and associated deliverables. And Scope Control influences the factors that create project scope changes and controls the impact of those changes, preventing scope creep. One of the things that will really help you on the exam is remembering the key outputs. From there you can piece together the inputs you need to generate these outputs and what tools and techniques you'll need to utilize the inputs. What you're asked for here is not a list of the outputs, but just the key outputs. So let's go through them. And for Scope Planning we have the Project Scope Management Plan. For Scope Definition we have the Project Scope Statement. In Create WBS we have the WBS, the WBS Dictionary and the Scope Baseline. Scope Verification includes the accepted deliverables and Scope Control has the recommended corrective actions and requested changes. And that wraps up our overview of the Scope Knowledge Areas Assessment Review.
