Welcome to VTC's PMBOK Part 2. My name is Vanina Mangano and I will be your instructor for this course. In this course, we will cover a great deal of information and in this movie I will outline the contents of the course. Before we review the course contents, I'd like to take a brief moment to introduce myself. I am a Certified Project Management Professional with quite a diverse background. Currently, I provide consulting and training services with a focus on project management, particularly for those preparing to take the PMP or CAPM Exams. PMP stands for Project Management Professional is a globally-recognized certification issued by the Project Management Institute. You'll find detailed information on both the PMP and CAPM certifications, exams and application process for both within the PMBOK Part 1 course. Aside from project management, I also specialize in outsourcing and my experience in this area has given me insight into the world of virtual teams, which frequently plays a part in project management today. Introduction aside, let's move right into our review of the course contents. PMBOK Part 2 is a follow up of PMBOK Part 1, where the project management framework, foundation and overall review of the PMBOK Guide were covered. If you haven't gone through Part 1, I do suggest taking the course, since it'll give you a broad, high-level overview and understanding of project management that'll be valuable for this course. However, for those that haven't taken the course, I'll mention that PMBOK stands for Project Management Body of Knowledge, which is a set of project management guidelines and best practices put together by the Project Management Institute and is the primary focus of the certification exams I mentioned earlier. Within the PMBOK Guide, there are a total of nine knowledge areas and this course will focus on the first three; Project Integration Management Knowledge Area, Project Scope Management Knowledge Area and Project Time Management Area. We'll start out this course by reviewing a few items within the PMBOK Guide. This will be a critical piece for those that haven't taken the first course and will serve as a great review for those that have. The section on PMBOK Guide Overview will touch on the project lifecycle, the five process groups and the nine knowledge areas. This will be a quick, no-nonsense overview. For each of the areas, we will cover the following: an assessment to first gage your level of understanding, which may be a high or a zero at this point; a review of the individual processes that fall within the knowledge areas, including the processes, inputs, tools and techniques and outputs. Each process will also end with a workbook review. The workbook review is simply a set of exercises to help you digest the information and practice what you've learned. And finally, as we head towards the end of the course, we'll review practice exam questions. I hope this has provided you with some insight on what to expect. At the end of the course, you should be able to thoroughly understand the integration, scope and time knowledge areas within the PMBOK Guide and their associated processes. And that concludes this overview on the PMBOK Part 2 course contents.
