In this movie, we will take a moment to review the practice exam questions that relate to Social and Professional responsibility. You'd be surprised at how tricky these can be, some you'll find to be intuitive and others will be a bit more challenging. Let's take a look at these questions. The first one tests your knowledge on the four core values. It says: The following are the four core values of a Project Manager. Honesty, professional, respect, integrity. Honesty, responsibility, respect, fairness. Integrity, responsibility, fairness, ethical or integrity, honesty, respect and fairness. You'll often see these words thrown in there that relate to the section but aren't the right answer, such as integrity which is embedded into the four core values. The correct answer is B, honesty, responsibility, respect and fairness. Our next question reads: You've just discovered that one of the deliverables will be delayed by one day, your project staff has assured you that it'll be completed. However stakeholder updates are scheduled to go out today and the delay of the deliverable will likely cause some anxiety amongst the group. What should you do? Don't mention the delay since the project team has assured you that it will be completed. Include the delay in your update report. Mention that the deliverable has been completed after all it is guaranteed to be completed by tomorrow or send the update one day late to reflect the completion of the deliverable. The correct answer is B, Include the delay within your update report. A would be a poor choice since this includes avoidance and withholding information. C is not correct because it is not the truth and reflects poor ethics. D may be something that some Project Managers may have done, but delaying information is not an open option. This is also similar to withholding information, it may be important to bring the delay of the deliverable to light in understanding what caused the delay. Our next question is 33, all of the following are included within a Project Managers responsibility except: Contribute to the project management knowledge base, support the education of other Project Managers, hold training classes for the Project Managers within your company or educate themselves about the industry they work in. All of the options may look good but the correct answer is C, hold training classes for the Project Managers within your company. While this is a great idea it is not exactly the responsibility of a Project Manager. For example part of a Project Managers responsibility includes supporting and helping to educate others within the profession. But this option is very specific, you can support other Project Managers through various other ways such as coaching, mentoring etc. Let's move onto the next question. You are working on a project that involves a team abroad, for religious purposes the team abroad closes down for one hour during the day, this has upset the local team who believe that the team abroad is using it as an excuse to take an extended lunch breaks. As a Project Manager what should you do? Educate the local team on the customs of the team abroad and why they take the additional mid day hour. Inform the team abroad that although this is standard practice in their country it is not part of your company's policy and they may not take the additional break. Do nothing since the team needs to work out. Allow the local team to also take an additional hour. This kind of situation is becoming more occurant today because global teams, vendors and customers are becoming more commonly spread out globally. I'd like to point out that this kind of situation could have been prevented. Not everyone understands differences within various cultures, religions and regions. This is important to address not just for those that are located abroad but also even for teams that are located within the same office. Let's quickly review the options. Option A involves educating the local team members on the customs of the team abroad. This already sounds like a winner. Option B informs the team abroad that they may not take religious breaks, even though it is customary in their country. This would be incorrect because you are attempting to impose your own customs and not respecting the customs and laws of other countries that are applicable to them. This also could infringe on the country's labor laws. Option C involves zero action which is never ok. Option D involves a very passive approach, trying to placate the local members to sweep the issue under the rug. This is never an appropriate action. PMI clearly states that issues should be dealt with head on and not avoided to take a passive approach. This makes A the correct choice. And our final question: One of the vendors on the project team you are managing offers you two tickets to a local jazz concert as a thank you for working with them. What should you do? First I'd like to point out that accepting any gifts or favors from vendors, even if it appears innocent is not acceptable. Although it may have been a very genuine gift or offer it is your ethical responsibility to decline it. And here are the options and already we can see that B and C are incorrect since that would involve accepting. Option A declines the gift but it states that the reason is you don't like the gift. This is also the wrong choice because it implies that you may have accepted it if it were an event that you did like. Option D is the correct answer where you would respectfully decline since it is unethical to accept gifts and that concludes our overview of the practice exam questions relating to social and professional responsibility and also the overall section on the topic.
