In order to understand the individual processes, it's important to understand how these processes interact with the others, particularly when they're within the same process group. In this process flow overview movie, we're putting together what we've learned of the process groups overall objectives and the individual processes in order to help make these processes better click in our minds. For those taking the exam, understanding them in this way will allow you to think through questions and not work off of short-term memory as some prep courses encourage. In this movie, we'll put the processes together within the monitoring and controlling process group. On your screen you already have the process interaction and flow chart and this one is not as complex to read as some of the others. Let's break it down and touch on each process, also providing you with an additional section review. The objectives of this process group are not too hard to guess. It is concerned with monitoring and controlling the project. But to but it another way, it observes the project execution activities and looks for any problems needing to be fixes or that can be prevented. We began our process group activities with the monitor and control project work process. This process is responsible for collecting, measuring and circulating the project performance information. This is a very active process within the entire group. It is connected to the integrated change control process, which controls the factors that create change. We had mentioned during our review of this process that the purpose is not to prevent change, but to make sure those changes are beneficial to the project and also determine whether a change has occurred and managing those changes that were approved. These two processes feed into one another as the arrows indicate. The recommended corrective actions, preventive actions, defect repair and also the requested changes from the monitor and control project work process are fed into the integrated change control process, which approves, rejects and validates them. The rejected changes are then fed back into the monitor and control project work process for recommendations and you can see how this continues to cycle until issues are resolved and also how the processes work together. These two processes easily remind you that many of the activities occur more than once, even within a project phase. These two processes interact with the rest of the processes, feeding information into them and the monitor and control project work further interacts with them as you can see from the diagram arrows. Let's review these other processes. We have scope verification which takes the completed project deliverables and formally accepts them and submits recommended corrective actions for those that were not accepted. It is also concerned with making sure our deliverables don't deviate from its scope, which leads us right into the next process; scope control and here we focus on controlling the changes to the scope and making sure that any of those changes are approved by the integrated change control board. Most of what occurred in this process were updates to other documents and plans to reflect any approved scope changes and also recommended corrective actions to fix those that were not in line with the Project Management Plan and were also not approved. The same applies to the next control processes, which include schedule control, cost control and perform quality control. The manage project team process monitors human performance, but its focus is on the evaluation of this performance as a team and it makes recommendations to correct or prevent any issues involving the team in order to enhance the project performance. Our next process collects and distributes the performance information that tell us what the project status is and also the performance forecasts. We also monitor stakeholder communications in the manage stakeholders process and also risk in the risk monitoring and control. Here we perform similar actions as our other control processes and we do this by tracking the identified risk, monitoring the residual risk. We're always looking to identify new risk, execute our risk response plan and evaluate the effectiveness of our plan through the project's entire lifecycle. And our final process remaining is the monitoring of the contract administration where we monitor not only the contract but also the relationship between the buyer and seller. As you can see here, the information of all these processes are fed into the monitor and control project work process which then feeds it back into the integrated change control process and the integrated change control process feeds it right back into the other processes. And that concludes our movie on the flow of the processes within the monitoring and control process group and also our review of the process group overall.
