In this course we haven't just reviewed a great deal of information, but we've actually touched on the entire PMBOK Guide, that's a huge accomplishment and hopefully it doesn't seem as daunting anymore. Our review of the 38 highlighted terms during the beginning of section was also meant to provide you with a partial course review; however In this movie, we'll take a few minutes to review the following things, Life Cycle Process, Process Group Flow and the existing Knowledge Areas. During our initial discussion on the project life cycle we discussed the environment surrounding a project that has impacts and affects it in a large way. These included things like the organizational structure type that the project is managed in, enterprise environmental factors, the organizational process assets, the contract and the statement of work. We reviewed how a project is typically divided into phases and the number of phases varies depending on industry, the project and many other factors. Each of these phases goes through some or all of the process groups shown in the diagram below. These are the process groups that we spent a good amount of time discussing during this course. They are Initiating, where the project or project phases is defined and authorized. Planning, where the project objectives are defined and refined and the planning of the project takes place, Executing where the project work is carried out. Monitoring and Controlling, which regularly monitors and measures progress and also identifies ways to correct variances and finally Closing where the formal acceptance of a product, service or result takes place, either at the end of the project or a major deliverable at the end of a phase. As you can see in our diagram the process groups interact and they are iterative, a lot is done before the end result is handed off to the customer. Each of these process groups have several processes within them which we reviewed individually during the course so we won't touch on the now, but a good exercise would be to pause this movie right before the processes are revealed and see if you can remember what some of them are. Planning was our largest group followed by Monitoring and Controlling and once again these are the list of processes that fall within each process group. We also learned that the project management processes are also classified in another way aside from these process groups and this was by Knowledge Area. In total there are nine Knowledge Areas and they are grouped in this way because of commonalities of their processes within them and these include the project management integration Knowledge Area, scope Knowledge Area, time, cost, quality, human resource, communications Knowledge Area, risk and finally procurement and with that we'll close out our overview of the PMBOT part 1 course. In the follow up course, PMBOK Part 2 we will zoom in and focus on the processes that encompass the integration Knowledge Area, scope knowledge area and the time Knowledge Area. This marks the final movie within this course, I hope you've enjoyed PMBOK Part 1 and gain a great deal of information, value and understanding. Once again I thank you for joining me and I look forward to providing you with the additional training in the next course.
