In this movie, we will wrap up our brief discussion on the closing process group by reviewing the process slow. Since there are only two processes within this process group our overview will be brief but never the less understanding how processes interact with one another within a process group is important and worth the couple minutes it will take to review. As we review this keep in mind that closing activities don't just refer to the closing of a project they also refer to the closing of a project phase. Whereas the closing of a project includes the hand off of a product or service the closing of a project phase includes the hand off the phase's deliverables. This formal process within each project phase is important in making sure that the deliverables meet the requirements and are completed to the satisfaction of the project scope. For example at the end of a project phase the close project process closes out the portion of the project scope and associated activities that are applicable to that phase and the contract closure supports the closed project process by verifying that the work and deliverables were acceptable. The contract closure process relied on an output from the closed project process in order to begin. This was a development of the contract closure procedure which again the close project process set into the contract closure process. I'll give you some additional information on the contract closure procedure since it ties these two processes together. What this procedure does is establish the activities and interactions that are needed in order to settle and close any existing contract agreement that is associated with the project. This includes product verification, the administrative closure, contract terms and conditions and what to do for an early termination of a project. I'll quickly address this piece as well in regards to what happens if a project is terminated early. What many Project Managers do is nothing or to put it in more realistic terms what they do is they disband the project resources. But the PMBOK Guide states that early termination of a project should still be treated in a formal and documented fashion. Because in these cases there are still loose ends to tie beyond just releasing project resources. When a project is terminated early the contract closure process also addresses this in terms of the contract which I previously had mentioned. There should be a terminations clause within the contract that states the rights and responsibilities of each party in the event of an early termination. So this is important to understand before taking any actions. And with that we'll wrap up our discussion on the closing process groups section. As a parting note I'll caution you to remember that the closing of a project phase and the project overall is a formal and documented occurrence.
