In this lesson let's just create a brand new file in Microsoft Word. We can do so on our local install of Word or we can use Skydrive. Let's start out on our local computer. When you open Word you can create a new document right here. I can select a blank one or I can double click any of my templates or search for a template. The templates are preformatted documents I can use. Double-click on the one I want and voila I have a brand new document. Remember you can do a Control N and that brings you up another new document. Down here on my Taskbar you can see the two blank documents that I have open. Notice on the Titlebar it just says Document and a number. That's a generic name right now because I have not saved it yet and given it a specific file name. What you can do is also use your Skydrive. If I go online here and into Skydrive.Live.com I'm logged in and I can see my Cloud storage. I can create a brand new Word file there, I'll click Word Document, I'll just call it File 1 and tell it to create it for me. It creates my file online in the app for Word that Microsoft provides. I can type in my document. I can save my changes, I can even open it up locally in Microsoft Word. When I want to I can just sign out if I'm finished. So I'll go ahead and hit Save. Again I'm online here in my Cloud storage. I'll click File and you can see you have your backstage there. I can go ahead and exit, that exits me out of Word and now I'm back into my Skydrive storage. So you can do your new documents in your local word and you can also do that within your Skydrive, your Cloud storage.
